Repeat Prescriptions

PLEASE GIVE US THREE WORKING DAYS NOTICE FOR YOUR PRESCRIPTION  and if you are having your medicines dispensed at Barlestone please allow up to 4 days.

(excluding weekends and Bank Holidays)

Please click here to go to SystmOnline to to order your repeat medication.

red_pills_bottleIf you are on long-term medication you will be given a computerised prescription re-order slip.  This allows you to re-order repeat medication without seeing the Doctor every time.

After twelve repeats (or otherwise, decided by your Doctor), you will be required to have a review of your medication.  This may require a conversation or appointment with a GP or one of our pharmacists for review to ensure all is well before further prescriptions are issued.  In addition you may be required to attend for a blood test or blood pressure check if the doctor requests this.

The re-order prescription slip requires you to tick the items you require then there are a number of ways we can help:

  • Hand form in to reception 48 hours (2 working days) before you require your prescription.  This time frame does not include weekends or bank holidays. Please allow an extra day if we are dispensing your medicine at Barlestone.
  • Post it to us enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, and we will post the prescription back to you or to a Pharmacy of your choice.  Please add a further two days, to allow for postal delay.
  • Post through our letterbox if the surgery is closed.

For legal reasons, we are sorry but requests for repeat prescriptions will not be accepted over the telephone.

Prescriptions can be collected from the surgery or collected by the local Chemist of your choice, providing you indicate your wishes on the re-order slip, or notify the receptionist.

Barlestone dispensing patients can have their prescriptions delivered by our dedicated delivery service.

Urgent Prescriptions

If you have run out of medication or need a prescription quickly, please speak to the receptionist and we will do our best to help you.

If we are closed you are usually able to get an emergency supply of medication from your local chemist or you can contact 111 who should be able to help.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

We now have the facility to send your prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy of your choosing (assuming they have signed up to electronic prescriptions). If you use this system when you ask for a repeat and it is approved it will go electronically to the pharmacy you nominate. They will download the prescription and prepare your medication.

Electronic prescribing works well for patients who are stable on their medication and collect from the same pharmacy all the time. If you wish to collect medication from a pharmacy near your work, this can easily be arranged if they are registered for EPS. If you are interested in this system please speak to our reception who can give you more details or set this up for you..
